Biography:

Dimlight were founded sometime in 2006 by two members of a now defunct metal project. During the first year, they were trying to complete the missing pieces of the band’s current line up. Soon after Dimlight started working on their first album, while performing on various Athenian metal/rock scenes.

After some live shows, live reports and interviews in their resume, a record deal came along. In 2009 they released their first album called ‘Obtenebration’ under the label of Emotion Art Ltd. They have supported Septic Flesh in a mini tour in Greece and also toured with Septic Flesh in the Greek Alliance Tour 2009 along with Inactive Messiah and Web.

They also have participated in several festivals such as the Metal Healing Festival and the Hellenic Metal Band Festival supporting huge names such as Destruction, Rage, Septic Flesh, Orphaned Land, Firewind, The Haunted, Leaves’ Eyes, Nightrage, Moonsorrow, Descending, Nightstalker. Dimlight aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel.

They express themselves with music and they experiment with sounds and tunes and feelings derived by those sounds, something that often gets lost somewhere between image making and carefully constructed marketing campaigns. That is why before becoming Dimlight they had to prioritize their “wants” and “needs”.

Our Thoughts on Dimlight:

“Dimlight is one of the most promising metal acts in Greece! I was very impressed and surprised when I discovered that Sanna is actually a classically trained vocalist. (Dimlight is certainly not that kind of “typical symphonic metal female-fronted band”.) Their debut album Obtenebration got very positive feedback from the press, and Dimlight created a loyal fanbase from the very beggining of their career! They have played live shows with Septicflesh, Rotting Christ, My Inner Burning, Meden Agan, and other bands. Dimlight are currently in the studio recording their second album. Sanna gave us some exclusive details: ‘The new album will be a little bit more experimental and extreme, but it will still have all these special elements that shape our own style and characterize our own art: the art of making darkness.’”
