Check it Out: System Divide

System Divide is a rather international band, with members from Israel, Belgium, and the US. You might know vocalist Miri Milman from the Israeli gothic metal band Distorted, which she left to join her now husband Sven de Caluwé (of Aborted fame) in their new project. System Divide has been described as “extreme modern metal”. Well, what the hell does that mean?

It’s mostly a combination of melodic death metal, metalcore, gothic metal, progressive metal, and a whole bunch of other stuff thrown in for fun, but surprisingly turns out to be pretty damn awesome. Miri’s angelic voice soars over Sven’s harsh gutterals and the crunchy melange of guitars and bass to create an interesting effect. Each band member brings his/her own influence, and when you take all that and put it together, you get System Divide.

The band released their debut album The Conscious Sedation in fall of 2010 to generally positive reviews. If you’re into more extreme types of metal, this might be worth checking out.

System Divide recently completed their first US tour supporting Eluveitie, and will soon embark on the Hell Hath No Fury tour supporting In This Moment along with Straight Line Stitch and Sister Sin.

System Divide is:

  • Sven de Caluwé – lead vocals
  • Miri Milman – lead vocals
  • Michael Wilson – lead guitar
  • Andrew Lenthe – bass
  • Mike Heller – drums, percussion
